Post-Goth Goth-Punk

thehorrors

I’ll spare you the part where I sound like I know what I’m talking about… BUT, what I do know is that The Horrors are a part of the Beggers Group, which has it’s roots deeply tied to the gothic music scene of the late 80s (who the Horrors seem largely reminiscent of).

Their image as a band and the style of their latest album ‘Primary Colours’ seem hugely inspired by that part of music history. Their modern day indiekid cool combined with the style of great gothic bands like Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus and Gene Loves Jezebel really is a fantastic look and sound.

This is ‘Sea Within A Sea’, the last track on ‘Primary Colours’. The ethereal calm of it juxtaposed with those haunting guitarscapes just blows me away every time I hear it. Fantastic.
