Digitalism’s debut album ‘Idealism’ was released way back in 2007, almost a blog lifetime ago! The album featured previously released tracks such as ‘Zdarlight’, ‘Pogo’ and ‘Idealistic’, which at the time felt like a bit of a cop out.

I’ll admit, I bought the CD to have the singles in one place and had never really appreciated most of the other album-only tracks until I heard the ‘Hands on Idealism‘ EP which was released last December. Acting as a remix album for ‘Idealism’, the second full release contains some smashing reworks of those tracks on the album I’d only heard a couple of times. Although these remix albums may be cliché by today’s standards, sometimes it actually adds to your experience of the source material.

Not only are there some amazing remixes by the likes of Proxy, A-Trak, Siriusmo, Fred Falke and even Digitalism themselves, I was blown away by Track 2 on the release by Breakbot. It’s a guitar-driven, discotastic remix of  ‘Apollo-Gize’ where he uses similar 80s stylings being driven forward by several other French super-producers including Danger, Yuksek and Kavinsky. It’s a fun, nostalgic and epic remix which is definitely worth a listen.
