Obviously not having the time to tend to the front over the past year it had become quite overgrown! Yesterday we took the whole day to slice and dice away at it, ripping out weeds and shrubbery which so often I imagined our petty neighbours to scorn at. The worst part wasn’t the fatigue or the dead flys left behind in my post-demolishion bath, but when I was trying to fall asleep a few hours later, I was doing the same work in my head. I was slowly drifting off and my brain just kept on recreating the same tasks; cutting off branches, folding them down and putting them in a bin bag. Over and over and over again my brain continued processing this task until I fell into sleep and carried on dreaming about the task. When I woke this morning I had the biggest back ache, perhaps a clear indication that I’m getting old?
